BlueCurrent Engineering — Electrical, Automation, Drives, Dredging and Offshore
Portfolio & experience

From first commissioning
to years in operation.

Electrical, automation and drives experience across dredging vessels, offshore projects and fully automated terminals, complemented by industrial data analysis and AI.

BlueCurrent Engineering brings together the hands-on experience of founder Edwin Profijt. The projects below form part of his professional track record, including work carried out before the establishment of BlueCurrent.

Spreader predictive maintenance

Container handling equipment

Developed a predictive maintenance platform for container spreaders, connecting equipment data with analysis to support maintenance decisions.

The engineering focus is to interpret changes in equipment behaviour in the context of how a spreader is used. This brings machine knowledge and data analysis together to help maintenance teams investigate developing issues.

Container terminal throughput prediction

Terminal operations & planning

Developed a throughput prediction solution for container terminals, applying data analysis and predictive modelling to terminal performance.

The application connects operational data with a forward-looking view of throughput. It provides a basis for exploring expected performance and supporting planning discussions, with predictions assessed against actual operations.

Cooling-water pump monitoring

Remote visibility while the vessel is sailing

Developed a monitoring solution for marine cooling-water pumps, using remotely transmitted operating metrics to follow equipment behaviour while the vessel is at sea.

Onboard metrics are made available ashore for review, allowing pump trends to be followed between vessel visits. This connects practical knowledge of marine systems with remote data monitoring and technical support.

Engineering context behind the analysis

Equipment knowledge & AI training

A useful model starts with understanding the equipment and the question it needs to answer. Edwin combines commissioning and automation experience with completed AI bootcamp training.

This perspective connects signal quality, operating conditions and model interpretation. It helps turn analytical findings into questions and actions that operators and maintenance engineers can assess against the real installation.

Seven Waves

Full commissioning & five-year check-up

Edwin’s involvement covered full commissioning and a subsequent five-year check-up. Working with the same vessel at different stages of its life connects the commissioning perspective with the realities of equipment in service.

That experience informs an approach which considers both how systems work together at handover and how they can be maintained and supported over time.

Full commissioning

Full commissioning involvement on Bibby’s second WaveMaster vessel. This project is part of Edwin’s experience with the electrical and control systems behind specialist offshore vessel operations.

It complements his dredging and subsea background with experience in the offshore wind service environment.

Beyond newbuild commissioning

Keeping complex
systems working.

01

Drive maintenance at sea

Drive maintenance experience across various dredging and offshore vessels. Familiarity with equipment in service complements newbuild commissioning, with a practical focus on maintenance, fault finding and continued operation.

The engineer behind BlueCurrent

One connected
technical perspective.

Understanding how power, controls and equipment work together—and what the people operating the system need from them.

From a dredging vessel to an offshore project or an automated terminal, the common thread is understanding the complete system. BlueCurrent combines that practical background with independent engineering support and direct technical communication.
